Mining & Construction

San Rafael Rock Quarry Production Program (CA)
Conducted the Health Risk Assessment for haul trucks, aggregate processing, asphalt and brick manufacturing operations, and barge operations associated with the planned extension of this facility. The assessment focused on diesel particulate matter, crystalline silica, and hydrogen sulfide emissions. Approved in 2009.

Durbin and Reliance I Quarry (CA)
Conducted the Health Risk Assessment for an extension in the duration of mining activities in both quarries. The assessment focused on diesel particulate matter and crystalline silica emissions and accounted of extending operations by 40 years. Approved in 2008.

Roblar Road Quarry (CA)
Prepared an EIR for a new hard rock quarry proposed to be located in southern Sonoma County (west of Cotati) and adjacent to the County-owned, former Roblar Road Landfill. The Roblar Road Quarry proposes to mine approximately 570,000 cubic yards of quarry material annually over a 20-year period. The proposed project presented and number of technical issues related to air quality, including potential landfill gas emissions, serpentine asbestos-containing rock, silica dust emissions, as well as air emissions from onsite processing equipment and haul trucks.

Canyon Rock Quarry (CA)
Completed the Air Quality and Health Risk Assessment to assess the potential effects of expandeing the sand and gravel operations at this facility.  Work focused on nearby residences and a school and took into account nearby intersections, another adjacent quarry expansion, and multiple haul route scenarios. Approved in 2009.

Vernalis Quarry (CA)
Completed the Air Quality Assessment for this aggregate quarry expansion involving stone crushing operations (4 million tons annual), asphalt batching operations (400,000 tons annual), concrete batching (150,000 tons annual), various nonroad (loaders, excavators, etc) equipment, as well as hauling vehicles. Approved in June of 2008.

Borden Ranch(CA)
Completed the Air Quality Assessment for a proposed sand and gravel processing facility involving sand drying operations (4M tons annual), aggregate processing, onsite equipment (such as loaders and excavators), haul truck traffic, and fugitive dust sources (wind erosion, storage and handling, and unpaved surfaces).
